A film by Gareth Evans
After fighting his way out of a building filled with gangsters , a fight that left bodies pilled up of gangsters and police men as well, rookie Jakarta cop Rama (Iko Uwais) thought it was done and he could resume a normal life. Oh boy was he wrong with that one, he is going need a raise, yes that is going to happen especially in the police force. The problem all those men that Rama fought was just the tip of the iceberg. His family is at risk and he has no choice to go undercover and go up to the food chain, he learns that there are corrupted cops as well politicians. So he must go on the adventure of violence to end it all and protect his family.
When the first film got there a couple years ago it sent shockwaves thought the media some loved it some not. But it became an instant classic cult film. The expectation in the second one is great, could be better. It is possibly the great sequel in a long time. This film is simple but this time he throws in the mafia plot as I call it and makes it an action thriller crime movie. The challenge is there all those fighting scenes are dangerous to do. The action sequences are bigger of course unreal le me remind you it is just a movie, the fighting scenes are out of this world but if this was real life action sequence the fighting would be over a lot quicker and it would hurt like hell. The first film did not allowed room for the acting it was an action scene after an other; In this one there are it is moving like a thriller/action film . Evans added some new players to the mix like Julie Estelle as the blind warrior Hammer Girl, and Very Tri Yulisman as the hilarious Baseball Bat Man. Then it kicks in into a violent film maybe the most violent of them all and Evans does not shy away from it he goes right into it and delivers it. I heard this somewhere that there is Raid 3 coming up, after all it is a trilogy.
