the martian

A film by Ridley Scott

Cast: Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig

During a mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew, his worst nightmare. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the red planet. With some supplies that will last him at least 50 days, he ingenuity starts to kick in over drive and figures out how to survive and contact NASA to tell them he is still a live.

I just remember not long  ago that finally a robot got laugh to mars and brought back some picture from mars NASA out done themselves this time. The thing is on Mars there is no water. This was the premise for Scott’s film and Andy Weir, the author of the book did so much research on it ti’s not even funny and thank god for that. He asked himself if something goes wrong what could happen and if someone left behind could he survive. Mark Watney had main concern food, water, yes math, chemistry and botany are important here in order to survive. There is humor into it well the fertilizer’s problem was fixed right away well you know that one. The thing is Mark has to wait 4 years for the next mission therefore has to figure out to grow food and to get water on a planet where it never rains and where nothing grows. NASA’s team of  geniuses played by Chiwetel Ejiofor, Jeff Daniels, Kristen Wiig, Sean Bean, Mackenzie Davis and much more, are trying to figure out how to get Mark back to earth. There is a little bit of MacGyver in mark making something out of nothing.

Here is a film that is making science cool and even you might not understand the jargon here you are going to have a great time watching this. And yes there is disco music in this film I know ahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! but there is humor with it. Mark keep his cool and will never give up in order to keep his spirit up his uses humor when he log in into his video journal. The visual of they film is pure joy here. The film was shot  in Wadi Rum, Jordan, which has a red colored desert, the rest in the studio somewhere in Europe. Great performance by Matt Damon who plays the team clown / the joker. A nice cool Sci-fi film where Ridley Scoot shines. If I was stranded on Mars and I was an astronaut I would pack a lot of cases of wine it a must for a french man ’s survival.
