the revenant

A film by Alejandro González Iñárritu

A trapper on a fur trading expedition in the 1820s fights for survival after being attacked by a bear and left for dead by some of the members of his own hunting team.

Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio) Is a member of this hunting party who are looking for animals. In a serious intense scene, (a scene that was never done like this before) Hugh ends up getting mauled by a bear to where he looks to be on the verge of  death and meet his maker. One party member, John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy)  wants to finish him off instead of  dragging Hugh because the indians are catching up to them.

Here is an interesting concept for a story and Iñárritu did not let up once. A breathtaking scenery here on how it was in 1820 where man have this will power to survive anything. They were used to this kind of life style and knew the consequences. Of course the director puts us in the middle of the action and you never feel save. Back then nature and man was one, you didn’t even know what was in the corner always on the look out looking over your shoulder. They had to know how to make fire, hunt, cook, and make shelter. Now days not one man would last a day in the wild like that. We are no longer one with nature. We are urban. You feel every ache, pain and broken bone of Hugh experiences in his intense and long journey. DiCaprio has won an academy award for this film, he is fearless and shows the truthfulness of the dark side of his characters. On the other hand look at Tom Hardy here he is getting better and better his character is motivated by fear . I think this film has it all great performances, awesome cinematography as well as beautiful to breathtaking, a haunting music score and a great vision form the director who never cease to amaze his audience. Plus Alejandro González Iñárritu has won an Oscar for best director.
