A film by Cristian Mungiu

Cast: Adrian Titieni, Maria-Victoria Dragus, Rares Andrici

English: Graduation

You would think that a girl from Romania who is about to take the final exams so she can graduate from high school the only thing she would have to worry is studying think again.

The first thing that happens is that an anonymous someone throws a rock through Romeo’s apartment window. But wait that is not all yes there is more, the next thing is that our doctor’s teenage daughter Eliza (Maria Dragus) is grabbed and assaulted not far from her school ho! mon dieu. No that is not all Romeo run over a dog with his car well those 3 incident will spark a chain of event that is going to follow.

Bacalaureat is actually a beautifully crafted work of storytelling that will talk about long after you see it. It’s about the disappointed man who will go out of his way to get his beloved daughter out of Romania. You see when the girl get assaulted she sprain her right arm she passed her first part of the exam but has to do the second part it goes badly so her father must consider making the kind of phone calls that contradict the belief in honesty he and his wife Magda (Lia Bugnar) have passed on to Eliza. Anyway here is a film that is flawless but have to watch it carefully and pay attention of the dialogue. Here you will see how the middle class in Romania does their thing sort of speak and that the rich feed off the middle class the two side can be corrupted just be aware that is going to be  a richly crafted, satisfying experience.
