A film by Michael Wong
Cast: Jose Acosta, Dongjun Han, Zhuang Zhiqi
So I get this message in my email on the page contact me on this website. This Malaysian director who lives in China sent me a link for his short film and ask me to review it although it got a lot of attention at many film festival back in 2015 and got many awards. So here it is.
When you see this film it is told like a fairy tale fashion and may I add it is beautifully film with some beautiful colour contrast. The story of 90 coins is a cultural viewpoint here. The couple, a dude and a girl begin the film not even being in love: the fella has a romantic infatuation for her, and basically promises that she will fall for him after he gives her a coin wrapped in a little message .A good man should be like a bear… I’ll always protect you’ – every day for the next month and a half. Is it going to work? Maybe, maybe not. Eventually they will get together but by pure chance. See the film on the bottom of the post. Yes there is someone else interested in the girl her boss the fashion designer who want her to go to Paris with her. Wong here presented the two characters then told the story in a form of a courtship and I might add he has done it beautifully well here. Now days who courts women this way . It does not happen anymore maybe it should. Wong here does a little detour with his story, the woman was going to choose to go to Paris , then …well see the film. Here is an ambitious woman who is going to make a big sacrifice. Here is a cool short romantic film if you ever saw one and thank you Michael Wong.
