Marilyn Monroe (born Norma Jeane Mortenson; June 1, 1926 – August 5, 1962) was an American actress, model, and singer, who became a major sex symbol, and started in a numbered of commercial and movie from 1950’s to 1960’s. She began a modeling career at first, than moved on to commercial that lead up to do movies. Her performances in The Asphalt Jungle and All About Eve (both 1950) drew attention. By 1952 she had her first leading role in Don’t Bother to Knock and 1953 brought a lead in Niagara, a melodramatic film noir I have not seen those yet but will soon. Of course hollywood portrait her as a dumb blonde so she made gentlemen prefer blonde (1953). How to marry a millionaire (1953) and the seven-year itch (1955). Marilyn had her own production company. She received a Golden Globe nomination for Some like it hot (1959). Her last film was the Misfits (1961). She began to be difficult to work with and did take sleeping pills, she was unreliable also. She died of an overdose of barbiturates. TV Guide Network named her No. 1 in Film’s Sexiest Women of All Time in the US in France it was Brigitte Bardot
