A film by Nicolai Fuglsig
Cast: Chris Hemsworth, Michael Shannon, Michael Peña
The story of 12 men from the special forces team deployed to Afghanistan after 9/11. They team up with an afghan war lord and under a new captain to taken down the Taliban .
Chris Hemsworth Capt. Mitch Nelson, never been in a war, but did his training is going to lead 12 men to Afgannistan . They were the first American troops to set foot in Afghanistan after 9/11. Hal Spencer (Michael Shannon) the most experience, Sam Diller (Michael Pena) the joker, plus a weapon expert Ben Milo (Trevante Rhodes) and the rest of the gang. Nelson gets his orders from the Colonel Mulholland (William Fichtner) and Lt. Col. Bowers ( Rob Riggle). Their mission is to invade northern Afghanistan through Uzbekistan with the help of the Uzbek warlord General Dostum (Navid Negahban), who has his own reasons for taking on the Taliban. Dostum and his men, Nelson and his team must capture the Afghan city of Mazar-Sharif. well despite their training the American is going to ride horses in oder to get where they are going because of the rough terrain.
Director Fuglsig here has shown what war can be a dark place where a blood bath is going to take place. Here is 12 men who are on horses against tank and heavy artillery survived this ordeal. Amazing or pure luck. Everybody underestimate Nelson is the dynamic here and he had little experience in the field. Not only he made a promise he will come back to his wife but tells the colonel he can do it in 21 days before the snow comes otherwise they are going to be stuck there. Not the big film here but the purpose of it is entertaining and surprising that those 12 men has survived this ordeal on horses. The film here is design to make you feel good.
A film by Taika Waititi
Cast: Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett
Imprisoned, the mighty Thor finds himself into a little jam. Gets capture again by a woman and gets imprisoned again and Thor must fight for survival and race against time to prevent Hela from destroying his home and the Asgardian civilization.
Ok then most of the time the third one falls apart but here Chris Hemsworth does a terrific job at delivering punch line. It a is a break out comedy performance that he throws in and thank god that they cast Chris for the part of Thor because he fits perfectly the bill and with a haft way decent script he hold the Franchise together.
Thor is trapped on the planet Sakaar, where he’s forced to fight the planet’s reigning champion. What? Ok then without further due you know what is going to happen. It is a little predictable but shit it is fun to watch. There are familiar character popping here and there. Goldblum here plays the part so well, well like the genius that he is and nails it right on the money which it is a joy to watch. It is going to feel like a buddy movie. it seems to me that Marvel is using more and more humor in the comics film now days one started it and now the other follows and it seems to work so far. A real style, humor to spare, a thunderous soundtrack, and action will throw at least the audience to the movie theater. Do not sulk your pleasure.
A film by Ron Howard
Cast: Chris Hemsworth, Cillian Murphy, Brendan Gleeson
Yes it is Herman Melville’s whaling classic “Moby Dick” coming to life by director Ron Howard. John Huston as done this film in 1956 I have not seen that one yet so if I find a copy I will let you know how it is. For now I am sticking with this one. It is based on the true story of the doomed vessel Essex which ran into one whale that refused to be turned into oil. Back then they needed to for heat and candle wax.
Melville himself played by Ben Whishaw, who arrives in Nantucket to interview drunken former sailor Tom Nickerson (Brendan Gleeson) about his traumatic experience on the Essex years ago as a new kid on the boat kid (Tom Holland). Nickerson is reluctant to relive the horrors of three decades past, but encouraged by his wife (Michelle Fairley) and the need for some cash, he gives in and the tale is told in flashback.
Hemsworth plays stalwart seaman Owen Chase, whose promise of captaining the Essex who has been passed over by George Pollard (Benjamin Walker), who gets the job because of his family legacy. Chase is a farmer anyhow but want to prove himself that he can lead his own boat. Yes there is some tension between Chase and Pollard right off the bat and yet Pollard had to gain the respect of the crew. The film goes into the hunt of the whales and the dangers of it. Later it focuses on the survival of the crew when the ship sank. The thing they had to endure in order to survive. There is one thing missing but I still like the film is the burning passion between whale and man. Other then that it is fine. I have to read the book which I have not read yet. I have it on my Kindle but did get to it yet. I can back to you on that one.
A film by Ron Howard
Cast: Daniel Brühl, Chris Hemsworth, Olivia Wilde
The 70’s was the golden age and glamorous time for Fomula 1 racing. It is based on a true story of a great sporting rivalry between handsome English playboy James Hunt (Chris Hemsworth), and his analytical , brilliant opponent, Austrian driver Niki Lauda (Daniel Bruhl). The story follows their personal and professional life on and off the track as well as the extraordinary 1976 season.
Here is a great film by Ron Howard. What a better way to write a true story on 2 character back in the 70’s who are completely different. They were rivalry between each other although one was a Brilliant Austrian who is smart and confident sometimes too confident. Then there is James Hunt who takes risk and push himself and the car to the limit and lives his life like it was his last day on earth boozing, smoking, and have sex with plenty of women. Brilliantly directed By Howard it is like you are in the action with the driver. They put camera where you normally would put them, they had a total of 33 camera big and small to record the action on the track and it worked. The drivers drove at really speed on the track no GCI cars that was the coolest to see no doubt. Casting is superb both actor almost look a like like their characters. The 70’s period were recreated very well I do remember the 70’s it was so cool back then and the clothes were colorful even the people were better free spirited and friendly. Thank god the the writer (Peter Morgan) went to see Niki Lauda who told his story and even let him see the script for his approval. The ‘tail number’ of James Hunt’s plane is G-IFTE or ‘Gifted’ Yeah I know those 2 guys were cocky as hell. Off the track Lauda had a bunch of airplane that he pilot from time to time. Unforgettably James Hunt died of a heart attack at age 45 thiis came to no surprise to Lauda. Lauda still go to see Formula 1 races from time to time.
Nikki Lauda & James Hunt
A film by Stephen Milburn Anderson.
Cast: Sean Bean, Chris Hemsworth, Victoria Profeta.
A couple a bank robbers are being pursued by the police to avoid getting caught with the take on of the robber throws the suitcase off the bridge which lands on the hood of Sam Pelham’s ( Chris Hemsworth) car. Sam thinks it is a sign of god and takes the money. He pays the rest of his mortgage then spent it on stuff and a new mange rover. Meanwhile Pyke Kubic (Sean Bean) is called in town to see his brother in jail who tells him where the money is and if he gets it back they will split it 50/50. And so Kubic is on a mission.
Here is a film that Anderson sat on it since the 90’s because he wants to make his own movie. This film did not go through the Hollywood machine thank god. It is not an original idea but it ids done the way the director wanted it. It is funny what money will do to people. First Sam decided to keep the money and there are consequences that follows. Then when Kubic gets the money he tells his brother that Sam an his wife still owe money his brother didn’t care because they still had $550,000, but Pyke refuses to listen to him and decided to get every cents back and it has its consequence also. Soon after that Sam and his wife finds out the pawer of a gun can do and it has its consequences also. Counting the money was getting on my nerves because the writers was trying to stretch it out to one hour and 40 minutes long but in reality a film like that should do fine with just 90 minutes. Over all it is worth the look on this one.
A film by Drew Goddard
Cast: Kristen Connolly, Chris Hemsworth, Anna Hutchison
You’re not going to see this one coming. further do and without giving away the story too much you have five friends who fit the horror movie stereotypes (Jock, Slut, Party-Guy, Nerd, Virgin) who go to a cabin in the woods to party and get away from it all. WHAT!!!!!! I heard that one before friday the 13th, cabin fever, etc…..Yes I do smell a horror film and together they must face the truth about the cabin. Great movie nice imagination from the writers who wrote it in 2 days from 6AM to 1AM. To be honest, the less you know about this film, the more awesome it will be.
and it became one of my favorite Horror film beside Haute tension (high tension french horror film).
