Yesterday everyone knew the Beatles, but today only Jack remembers their songs. He is about to become extremely famous. Jack Malik is a struggling singer-songwriter whose dreams are sinking into the sea that borders the small village where he lives in England, despite encouragement from Ellie, his best childhood friend who never stopped believing in him. After an accident with a bus during a strange blackout, Jack wakes up in a world where he discovers that the Beatles never existed … which will put him in a serious case of conscience.
Ok Danny Boyle is a fan of the Beatles which was the greatest band ever on this face of this earth. Let’s face it, in every song of every albums was a hit song now tell me what band has done so so far. Jack who got into an accident because of a weird black out finds out that no one has heard of the Beatles except him. After all he is not the song writer that he wanted to be so he decided to do the unthinkable. Good film but he doest not go where it suppose to go, and does not avoid the cliché with the love story that is predictable. One surprise in it. The film is enjoyable to watch and you will hear the Beatle songs all over again and it has humour in it. So it is not a complete waste. There are some weird moments in reference to john Lennon. Thank god that the actors here were talented and had chemistry.
Cast: Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller
Renton (Ewan McGregor) has been living drug-free in Amsterdam for the past 20 years, but is returning to Edinburgh following his mother’s death. Spud (Ewen Bremner) has been trying and failing to stay away from heroin, losing touch with a wife and son in the process. Begbie (Robert Carlyle) has been in prison, And Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller) has been snorting cocaine, running his aunt’s pub, and blackmailing the clients of a Bulgarian prostitute (Anjela Nedyalkova) Yeah! baby.
Well is T2 worth the wait judge for yourself. It is 20 years later and they are now 40 something so the film is not going to be crazy and wild like the first one. It is mellower no surprise there, they are older and can’t party as they are used too. The last time they saw each other someone has done a stupid thing ripping off his friends. The misadventures that follow have plenty of familiar Trainspotting elements: snapped pool cues and nightclubs, virtuoso swearing and sudden violence, freeze frames and special effects not as disturbing and the first one . T2 is inferior to T1: the cinematography is darkened with smoke the editing isn’t as frantic, the music isn’t as catchy, and the performances aren’t as sharp. But it is still enjoyable. There are some funny moments, at times. T2 even stirs up fond memories of a beloved masterpiece T1 when Renton updates his “Choose life” monologue for instants. And what happened to the baby in this one? Yeah! whatever!!!
Cast: Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller
The movie, based on a popular novel by Irvine Welsh, is about a crowd of heroin addicts who run together in Edinburgh, England. The story is narrated by Renton (Ewan McGregor) who introduce us to his friends Spud (Ewen Bremner), Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller) who’s never seen a movie of Sean Connery sober, Tommy (Kevin McKidd), who returns to drugs too many times , and Begbie (Robert Carlyle), who brags about not using drugs but is a psychotic and throws bottles of beers at the patrons. There a nice little bunch that you would mind your daughter be dating.
Those guys are trying to score drugs get high, bed girls, drinks, swear, gets drunks, they are not settled in any way and home is no where. It is a bingeing fiesta at its best.Former alcoholics and drug abusers often report that they don’t miss the substances nearly as much as the conditions under which they were used. How funny is that. But a promising drug deal comes along and may the disturbing imaging begin. When one of them test the drugs the word wonderful comes out of his mouth. Drugs makes you feel good but you are going to crash big time and you are going to fell like shit. They film feels like what it is to be a junkie and it is dark as hell at times. Violence in their life is there. The thing about drugs (I never done them) as one told me makes you feel to want more. What is this baby doing in this film? Yeah! Whatever!!!!
Cast: Michael Fassbender, Kate Winslet, Seth Rogen
Of course Apple is not supporting the film, I am not surprised there. The movie is divided into three sections, each involving the lead up to product launches ending in 1998 hosted by Jobs.
We see him over a period of 16 years as we watch the film you get to see this great business man who is not an engineer to say the least but who wanted to be #1 at any cost. Of course he wanted to make the best product out there. He was difficult to work with I have read an article back in the day when he was fired and later after being fired Georges Lucas has this company called Pixar sold it to Jobs which turn it around to the best animation company that the US as aver seen. When they called him back to Apple he did not like it to him it was better to be at Pixar because it is fun over there. He pushed people to do their job better and to him nothing was impossible. There is Steve Wozniak (Seth Rogen) who co-founded Apple with Jobs, Apple CEO John Sculley (Jeff Daniels) who gets at what really drives Jobs in his life, Andy Hertzfeld (Michael Stuhlbarg) who was a member of the original team that put together the Macintosh computer, GQ journalist Joel Pforzheimer (John Ortiz) who is always hoping for an exclusive from Jobs, marketing executive Joanna Hoffman (Kate Winslet) who is Jobs best friend, and ex-girlfriend Chrisann Brennan (Katherine Waterston) who is mother to a daughter that he does not believe that is his daughter.
Danny Boyle has done like a film documentation about the technology and where is it going. Plus the dialogue are out standing here. Especially with Fassbender and Winslet who delivers their roles near perfection. You have to understand jobs was tough he wanted to be the first to invent it and #1, and he succeeded before he died. Also they were the first to invent the laptop, the iPod, iPad, and iPhone, which put Apple to be the top company in the US. The film avoid the clichés here as far as I can see. It is moving with great electrifying dialogue with never a dull moment. No wonder it has several Oscar nomination. And yes I am one of those who owns an Apple computer, iPhone, and iPad.
This film does run an outstanding large twist. This Auctioneer Simon (James McAvoy) at the beginning of the film explain that before robber will get into an auction an steal the painting by intimidation and leaves with the painting. Now those days are over and there are as he explains detector, alarm, security guard, even some Armenian in the back of the van outside of a van in the back of the auction building. They have drills even in case someone is trying to get steal the painting. Simon has to get the painting and drop it off downstairs down a chute to safety. The instructor points out to them don’t be a hero. One day 4 men comes in and try to steal the painting, Simon do like he learn at the drill does not panic and get to the chute to drop the painting when a man Frank (Vincent Cassel) tells him to give him the painting instead Simon tries to play the hero and use the tazer gun on Frank without success in which Frank hits Simon with his shotgun and leaves. he ends up in the hospital and does not remember a thing not even his name. It does not take long to figure out that simon was in on the robbery it does not qualify to be a spoiler. I watch to many movie to figure that one out early on. But when Frank open the case that the painting was in he founds it empty. He get tortured but can’t remember where he left the painting. So Frank tells him to got see an hypnotist to see if he get get to remember where the painting is. Simon bogus excuse he can’t find his keys that’s what he tells her. It does not take long for her that simon is not looking for keys. She confront the rest of the gang but she want tone equal partner. They go along with it. This is a Danny Boyle film and it is character driving in this fast pace crime thriller. It is a slick thriller a very colorful one at that. It moves well and the story telling is great. Some great acting there from the actors. Trance is an psychologic intellectual thriller and you should not miss it.
