A film by Denis Villeneuve
Cast: Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, Forest Whitaker
This has to be the master piece of Dennis Villeneuve. Wait until his next picture which I can’t wait. For now let’s talk about this one. It looks to me as if the encounter of the third kind has been rewritten and what an intelligent screenplay to it all off.
When mysterious spacecraft touch down across the globe a team headed by lead by expert linguist Louise Banks (Amy Adams) – are brought together to investigate. To try to talk to them, to decipher their language. It is making some other countries very nervous and the team races against the clock to try to avoid the global war. Will they make it on time?
Amy Adam has this hypnotic breaking performance in which communication, purpose and time are key.Villeneuve masterfully creates intrigue on a grand and personal scale. Based on Ted Chiang’s short story Story of Your Life, Eric Heisserer’s screenplay makes it look like you are witnessed something that is life changing. Arrival has a spiritual feeling where there is an authenticity in the story and we are seeing trough the clear blue eyes of the story’s vulnerable female protagonist.US army’s recruitment of Louise Banks (Adams), a top linguist who has previously assisted the government when a Farsi translation was required. The lead a brilliant female protagonist and puts her in a situation where she is going to try to decipher some king of language. The intellectual excitement makes the film run along just fine. However the cinematography (by Bradford Young) is breathtaking and the ending perfect.
A film by Gareth Edwards
Cast: Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Alan Tudyk, Donnie Yen, Forest Whitaker,Mads Mikkelsen, Jimmy Smits
Yes it is an all-star cast here with some extremely talented actors. The first “Star Wars” trilogy had a fresh, insurgent energy, how ever with Rogue it is going back on the saddle and I do not want reveal too much. It seems that the Rebel Alliance and the power struggles in the imperial ranks fasten our seat belts and engage our emotions into a roller coaster.
The Rebel Alliance recruits Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) to work with a team including Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) to steal the design schematics of the Empire’s new super-weapon. And yes it is a spectacular return galaxy far away. Here the heroine is trying to make sense of it all and when it does click it is inevitable there is going to be a war.Technically brilliant, Rogue One delivers the spectacle and the aerial combat that are such signatures of the Star Wars character. To top it all off you have some outstanding beautiful photography. No disappointment here but there are a few surprises. What is special is the storytelling; the how we are involved and engaged by the characters, their mission and the challenges they face it is like you are living it with them.
A film by Antoine Fuqua
Cast: Jake Gyllenhaal, Rachel McAdams, Oona LaurenceForest Whitaker
A boxer who looses his wife turns to Tick Willis a trainer at some gym to help him get back his life together as well as the custody of his daughter from child protection services. Here is a terrific screenplay from Kurt Shutter who has written this cool series Sons of Arnachy, the Shield I have them on my series website. You put Antoine Fuqua as the director and the aver so terrific Jake GyHenhaal as the hero of the story you got yourself a terrific awesome film.
Here is a boxer who has everything and comes from a broken home as work his ass off tho be on the top when suddenly he losses everything after his wife gets killed. The wife was the decision maker in the house as well as his business manager take that away and you have a lost angry boxer who does not know how to cope with it. His empires crumble down and his kid gets taken by child protection services to top it all off. It is a story of redemption a little bit predictable but great to watch here because the performance of Jake is outstanding, he is on the top go his game. Even Forest Whitaker who plays the trainer here in some small gym with a bunch of kids that he tries to get them out of trouble by leaning boxing has done a great job and Forrest and jake deserve each other here. 50 cents to my surprise as played wonderfully well in this film. The cinematography has a shadow black on black to it. The fighting scenes are pumped with emotional punch in the gut. Best view with recommendation while of course drinking beer, Hello! it is a boxing film after all.
A film by Jon Favreau
Cast: Jon Favreau, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson
Chef is a movie about friends, family, love and food so this is going to be a film that during and after seeing it you will salivate so bring a napkin with you. So Carnivores prepare to dig in, and yes Sophia Verga thank got I was sitting down when I was watching this film, of course let’s not forget Scarlett Johansson. This film is a succulent slices of barbecued, If you are making a film about food you better put 2 beautiful actress in it and some great food ,you see us guys we dream of one thing Sophia Verga naked with a Philly Steak in one hand and a six pack of beer on the other I am hoping that she will knock on my door. did I tell you to bring a napkin. Let’s go back to the movie shall we Here is a chef who has a big night because of a food critic coming in. He wants to change the menu but his boss won’t let him because his boss his a stubborn son of the bitch. So after getting a bad review Carl Casper (Jon Favreau) decided to get a food truck and take it on the road.
Now You have a boss played by Dustin Hoffman who is conservative and does not to change the menu. Carl gets bash by his critics who says that carl for a little fat because he was eating the food that went back to the kitchen. Later Carl gets with his sons and sets him up with a twitter account but there is danger to that. The critics played by Oliver Platt makes a comment on the chef and the Carl responded thinking he was sending him a private message soon after that the message was seen by 280,000. Carl invites the Ramsey Michel (Oliver Platt) back to the restaurant thinking that his boss was going to change his mind . But when he does not and tells him either go with the menu or get out. He gets out. You see a scene with Favreau where he goes back home and cook it is a critical scene to me because here is a chef who loves his job but can’t shut off and after having a fight with his boss the only thing that is calming him down is cooking some food and to put him in perspective that he is a great chef. The thing is is goes back and make a fool out of himself by going back and yell at Ramsey that every people there was filming on the smart phone and it went on every social network. Down on his lick he can not find an other jobs. So he gets to babysits his son while his ex-wife goes to work (rarely has a former partner in a movie been this mature and supportive). Her motive is for him to get his juices flowing again by revisiting where he got his start in the food business, a food truck business. And he does, Carl reconnects with food, his friends and his family especially his son who is in charge of helping out in the kitchen and marketing (social network). Not only that he reconnect with his ex. A terrific little film where the actors are outstanding especially Emjay Anthony who steal the show. You can take the all family to this one. Bon Appétit.
A film by Jérôme Salle

As a child Ali Newman (Forest Whittaker) nearly escape death by inkhata a militant at war against Nelson Mandela. His mother and himself survived the horror of it. But with many survivors the psychological scars remains deep inside of him. Today Ali is chief of police of South Africa in Cape town. His team consist of a white cop free spirited Brian Epkeen (Orlando Bloom) and an other cop by the book and a little bit uptight. Together the fight crime in Cape town which is not easy due to the population of the town has no respect for the police and think they are not doing their job. They find a dead woman, a new evil has been introduced it is just the tip of the iceberg.
Caryl Ferey has travel a lot and write thrillers as he visits towns or cities he stays at. He came to Cape town Africa and did some research even talk to the cops, and he started to write this fictional story. The story is set in a post Mandela where black cops are working with blacks for a while now as Forest was doing his research talking to black cop when they started working together it took a little bit to adjust to it and to see eye to eye between black cops and white cops. Orlando Bloom play a ladies man cop on the prowl 24/7. He has an ex wife and a kid who is now 18 years old. This is a new role for Orlando and he passed with flying color. The other cop has a wife who just recover from cancer is also white. meanwhile Ali has a mysterious sexual practice. later on you will see why. They find out that a gang is dealing a new drug on the street and it is a dangerous one. The closer they get the closer they put themselves even their family in danger. Great performances from the actors. The cinematography is grippy. This one is worth the look.
A film by Lee Daniels.
Cast: Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey, John Cusack.
Cecil Gaines ( Forest Whitaker) was a sharecropper’s son who grew up in the 1920s as a domestic servant for the white family. Unfortunately his dad got shot by the owner of the cotton field and his mom wasn’t the same after getting raped. He gets out on his own and find his way in hotel and becomes a valet. At a request of a friend he gets himself into being a butler in the white house. Cecil would serve numerous US Presidents over the decades as a passive witness of history with the American Civil Rights Movement as his family has troubles of its own. His wife (Oprah Winfrey) was an alcoholic and his eldest son fought his way in and out of jail fighting for civil rights for the black man .
Here is a piece of history. Cecil would serve in the White House for 30 years and serve many Presidents, but this movie is much more than just about a job. It is about his family and the struggle that they had to go through. There is the movie going from 1920 through 2008 there is a lot of history that goes along with it. Forest Whittaker carried himself well in this movie. Gaines was a noble man he provided for his family had a house got married and 2 kids to him life is good. But his son later on was fighting a war that seems endless and impossible to win. His wife was unhappy because she was neglected by Cecil, he was working at the White House too much. His son with his own struggle with the civil rights trying to fight it until it was going to change. Here is some of the entertaining casting with Robin Williams as Dwight Eisenhower, James Marsden as JF Kennedy, Liv Schreiber as Lyndon B, Johnston, John Cusack as Richard Nixon and Alan Rickman as Ronald Reagan. Minka Kelly resemblance at Jackie Kennedy as does Jane Fonda as Nancy Reagan. There is humour, too. Daniels paints a brilliant picture of all the changing time. There is some powerful scenes as well some interesting one.

He is headed, it turns out, straight for Summerton Junction, where the whole of U.S. law enforcement will have their last opportunity to make a stand and intercept him before he slips across the border forever. At first reluctant to become involved, and then counted out because of the perceived ineptitude of his small town force, Owens ultimately accepts responsibility for the face off.
