A film by James Gunn

Cast: Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Kurt Russell, Sylvester Stallone

This is going to be a dazzling action-packed sci-fi extravaganza. As I am going to try to write a dazzling review. Nothing is lost here it is still fun with some great music to go with it.

After a brief scene set in 1980 Missouri with a miraculously digitally young Kurt Russell, the action  battle in the adventurous spirit and risk-taking of the central characters. Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), makes a living as intergalactic bounty hunters. After a toe-tapping battle sequence featuring a giant Lovecraftian squid and Baby Groot (Vin Diesel) dating to the Electric Light Orchestra’s Mr. Blue Sky, the team is forced to divide. There they Meet Ego (Kurt Russell) and will take them to his dazzling planet which Ego will provide any question that provide answers to Star-Lord’s questions. And there begins the extravaganza of beautiful scenery colourful as hell with jokes along the way with great tunes from the 80’s.Watch out for Sylvester Stallone in a cameo.

Visually stunning, the film is a blast: a joyous sci-fi fantasy filled with weird and wonderful characters, goofy humour and a plot that offers just the right blend of emotional je ne sais quoi. Someone has a lot of imagination here and that is a good thing. Vol. 3 please.

CREED (2015)

A film by Ryan Coogler

Cast: Michael B. Jordan, Sylvester Stallone, Tessa Thompson

Here it is they went back to the old formula of the first rocky but instead now Rocky is on the side line and an other boxer will take his place and follow his father’s legacy . There is also the famous boxer who gives our hero the boxing match chance of a lifetime. With these elements, “Creed” then manipulates them differently by playing on our expectations before occasionally surprising us. It is a crowd-pleaser that takes the time to tell and develop the characters as in the first Rocky. Yes there is a quietly effective moments as there are stand-up-and-cheer moments is a matter a fact a woman sitting next to me jump up and cheer (seriously) and they are handle with skills on both side of the camera not an easy thing to do. Ok the film is predictable but pay attention to Stallone giving the right director the dude is a wonderful actor here.

Adonis Johnson an orphan  is visited in juvenile hall by Apollo Creed’s widow, Mary Anne ( Phylicia Rashad). Mary Anne adopts the young man. Mary Anne raises him as her own, Donnie’s resentment about being in the shadow of a famous man he never knew that never goes away. Donnie here has learned how to fight by himself and fighting in Mexico for money on the week end. He is not interested in the white collar job where he go a good education and a great job to secure his future but instead he wants to fights. He goes to Philadelphia to find Rocky to see if he can train him. Coogler here turn the tables here is a rich kid who want to go boxing never in real life there is been a rich man who got into boxing that I know so far. Of course there is a love interest in our story the beloved Bianca who is a singer / composer. The film is well written here and is as good as the first Rocky and yes ladies and gentlemen Sylvester Stallone can act even through  in emotion in the mix. Here he plays the mentor and trainer of the kid. Coogler has gave us a new hero wonderfully played by Micheal  B. Jordan. Check out the end of the film and you will go ok then but I knew where that was going the only logical ending there and what a beautiful end for a film.

From time to time basically I think of a few movies that I have seen. So I am doing a  guilty pleasure section I have done it before , There were those 2 film that comes in to mind. Now remember the 80’s action movies oh!!! yeah I remember them. 2 movies come in mind Cobra and Raw deal . I will go with the first one.

COBRA  (1986)

A film by : George P. Cosmatos.

Cast : Sylvester Stallone, Brigitte Nielsen, Reni Santoni .

Lieutenant Marion Cobretti aka Cobra (Sylvester Stallone), is a cop who takes the jobs where others can’t handle. The cops call them when they can’t handle the jobs or it gets too dangerous. When a serial killer known only as The Night Slasher kills in Los Angeles, Cobra is on his trail.  They do not care what his method are as long as they get the job done.  His car a 1950 mercury does not get nay cooler than that, license plate” awesome 50″ a pair of mirror blue sunglasses (I had a pair back in the 70’s) a gun with a cobra on the handle and a machine gun. Now that’s what I call a cop. Now a witness turn up and the serial killer needs too shut her up. He sent a motorcycle gang after them.

Here is an Guilty pleasure movie that kick ass. gun, fight car chase, fighting, blood, and a pile of bodies that you never seen in any action movie. What gets me in this film is that the serial killer sent a motorcycle gang after the cop and the witness played by Brigitte Nielsen , Cobra kills them one after one I think I counted at least 35 of them. And more kept coming of course no one runs out of ammunition if they do it is a few minutes later. The stunts are awesome cobra does an 180 with his car hangs out a gun out of the window and kills a few people then drives in reverse and shoot some more. Cool action film I saw it 5 times now. It never gets old.

RAW DEAL (1986)

A film by John Irvin.

Cast : Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kathryn Harrold, Sam Wanamaker.

Mark Kaminsky ( Arnold Scharzenegger)  is kicked out of the FBI for his rough treatment of a suspect. Damn I smell of a state of an action film. He now is the sheriff of a small town in North Carolina. what of a drag. But wait there is more , FBI Chief Harry Shannon, whose son has been killed by a mobster named Patrovina, tells Kaminsky take care of  Patrovina with a promise of reinstatement into the FBI. Guess what not a problem there buddy I will take care of it. He must go under cover and join them in order to well you know llii them all.

Well sly gets cobra out in 1986 so Arnold decide to get his own version in 1986. The competition is on. What i like is that the mafia operate a illegal gambling casino under the Albterton hotel. Not even the cops notice that one. There is a romance in this movie with the actress Kathryn Harrold Who plays a gambler in debt with the mob. The body count is a little less than Cobra and Arnold has some funny lines at times. Cars chase fight, dun fire blood all over the place you get the point. I saw that one 3 times and it never gets old. I love those 80’s action film.

A film by Paul Bartel.
Cast: David Carradine, Sylvester Stallone, Simone Griffeth.
This takes place in the future, Where the country is running by a president who rue the country out of the country in Asia. A futuristic cross‑country race in which the winner is determined, not merely by his speed, but also by the number of pedestrians he kills. Who collects the most point win the race. You get 100 points for someone in a wheelchair, 70 points for the aged, 50 points for kids and so on. The killing are graphic they did push the envelop back then. The cars were wicked, they had giant sword in the front of them and machine gun also. In front of an old‑folks’ home, the nurses park the wheelchairs of several patients in the middle of the road and wait for the fun to start—but the driver has his own little joke by swerving off the road and killing the nurses. You have Frankenstein (David Carradine) Who the fans loves is bang up and comes out of the hospital after being back together and does a press conference before he goes back to the race. Machine gun joe Viterbo who hates Frankenstein and wants to win at any cost. The rest of the gang are Calamity Jane (Mary Woronov) and Nero the Hero (Martin Kove). A roger Corman production. Of course there is the resistance who are against the President and trying to kill the drivers. I love this one it is violent and funny. I love the Corman film he was the king of low budget film.

A film by Renny Harlin.
Cast: Sylvester Stallone, John Lithgow, Michael Rooker.
Whilst crossing a ledge, 4000 feet above the earth, Gabe’s friend’s equipment fails to work and she slips out of his hand, falling to the ground. Almost a year later, Gabe is asked to go back to the same mountain range and rescue a group of ‘stranded’ people. The only catch is that these so called ‘stranded’ people are in fact looking for three boxes filled with $100,000,000 and they need a mountain ranger to lead them to them.

A stallone action film That works. I remember this one back in 1993. Stallone had a career that went up and down and he seems to get back on top with this film. A gang of expert criminals, led by John Lithgow, hijacks a U.S. Treasury plane carrying millions of dollars in large bills. They crash in mid air. Their plan is to transfer the money to another plane, and indeed one of the crooks transfers from one plane to another on a wire rope. Which bring me to the breathtaking photography. They have all that cash and no way down the mountain. So they send out a phony distress signal, which is picked up by Stallone and another rescue man, played by Michael Rooker. That step up the plot. They fins out that they are bad guys and there is a back story between the 2 rescue man that lead them at each other throat. Lithgow and Stallone are a good match. The movie was directed by Renny Harlin, who directed one of the “Die Hard” movies and one of the Freddy Krueger movies and knows his way around a thriller. I love this one and the stunt people deserve credits in this one with some breathtaking stunts.

A Film by simon west.
Cast: Sylvester Stallone, Liam Hemsworth.
Barney Ross is approached by CIA man Church, who wants him and his guns for hire to go to the former Soviet Union to retrieve something that was on a plane that crashed. Church doesn’t tell him what he is getting into. Church sent with them a woman who has the combination of the safe that is inside a plane that crashed but there is somme other men who are looking for the same thing and yes Jean-claude Van Damme Plays the bad guy, Hooo! I am so scare now then appear Chuck Noris the one man army why I am not surprise. and to top it all off Schwarzenegger is back and throws in a bunch of one funny one liner again why I am not surprised. This one is at least funny and action pack as usual. why did you think they made #2 because the first one was so successful so they went ahead and made #2 why am I not surprised. Not they is rumor of #3 Why am I not surprised. Let me guessed they are going back in time when they were younger now who is going to Play a young Stallone screaming Adrienne and shooting guns at the same time. That I want to see. I like this one enjoy.

A film by sylvester stallone.
Cast: Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham and Jet Li.
Now like I said I am a die hard action film fan this one I like so is the second one but is what I like is is a bunch a mercenaries who are old Jason Statham is the youngest one of them , you have a bunch of super middle age actor kicking ass on screen . First in real life they would retire by now, I know a mercenary about fifty something and he is about to retire. If those stars are still doing action pictures at their age they will have to bring a bunch of doctors on the set with oxygen tank. Stallone directed that one and wrote it also plus he was killing himself to death he was getting injured too many times. He said I can’t tell you how many operation I had over the years.
The Expendables is the name of a group of six mercenaries – a kind of half Dirty Dozen. Barney Ross leads the “Expendables”, a band of highly skilled mercenaries including knife enthusiast Lee Christmas, martial arts expert Yin Yang, heavy weapons specialist Hale Caesar, demolitionist Toll Road and loose-cannon sniper Gunner Jensen. When the group is commissioned by the mysterious Mr. Church to assassinate the merciless dictator of a small South American island, Barney and Lee head to the remote locale to scout out their opposition. Once there, they meet with local rebel Sandra and discover the true nature of the conflict engulfing the city. When they escape the island and Sandra stays behind, Ross must choose to either walk away and save his own life – or attempt a suicidal rescue mission that might just save his soul.
