MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: ROGUE NATION (2015)

Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation (2015)

A film by Christopher McQuarrie

Cast: Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, Jeremy Renner

It is hard to believe that it has been 19 years when the first one came out. Tom Cruise was already a star and started producing. Here is a terrific action film by Cruise who does not seems to disappoint. I am hoping he will do an independent film some day as a character actor like the on in Magnolia.

Yes sir the syndicate  is real and they want Ethan hawks. The stunts are out of this world and the story is easy to follow as well as there is a twist that I saw coming as big as a house, but that is okay the film is still good. Enjoy the show and have a good time. Great stunt here and what gets me really is that Ethan hawks gets a beating gets out of it, gets on a plane finally the door opens he get sucked in and bang his head goes 3 minutes under water get revive by a beautiful woman and crash a car at full speed, rides a motor cycle and get bang up but he still keep on ticking. Yeah! I know it is just a movie. Plenty of action and fun to watch. And yes it is just an other action film. Let’s not forget Sean Harris the evil genius as wells Alec Baldwin as an intelligence blowhard; Plus Rebecca Ferguson is done an outstanding job as kicking ass out there.

EDGE OF TOMOROW (2014)

edge of tomorow

A film by Doug Liman

Cast: Tom Cruise, Emily Hunt, Bill Paxton.

Base on the great novel All you need is kill by Hiroshi Sakurazaka . An alien race has invaded the earth and are winning every battle against the human race. They are faster and have better strategies.  Major William Cage (Tom Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat in his life. The general sends him in the front line. Here is the thing he gets thrown in the front line with no training at all and he gets killed. But seconds later he wakes up and lives the same day all over again Hey this looks like groundhog day or source code all over again but no it is not. He goes back and saves Rita Vrataski (Emily hunts) Cage tries to tell her what is going on when she tell him “find me when you wake up” He does and get connected to Dr. Carter (Noah Taylor). who tells him they can beat them and how but the task become is next to impossible. I do not want to reveal too much about this film just in case you didn’t see it. Emily hunt ‘s character is this ultimate warrior who keeps in shape and trains everyday to better herself as the nickname of full metal bitch. The fight scenes are intense and well done as well as gruesome as hell some of them anyway. As for Tom Cruise character at first he didn’t want to go to the front line even though it is the order of the general once he is forced into it you see him scared as hell and sweating . Later on he becomes less scared and wants to train in order to succeed. Great performance by bill Paxton who play this Sergent. Emily hunts delivers a solid performance as well as the female warrior who will stop at nothing to win this war, to top it all off the chemistry between Cruise and Hunt is near perfect. This a 3D movie but i think 3D is going to be out soon like it was back in the 70’s 80’s.

BORN ON THE 4TH OF JULY (1989)

4th of july

A film by Oliver Stone.

Cast: Tom Cruise, Raymond J. Barry, Caroline Kava.

Kovic (Tom Cruise) came back from the war but he is paralyzed from the waist down. It took a couple years to seek in. By that time he hits bottom, he is a hateful man and by that time he drinks to death and frequent Mexican whore houses  for a major portion of his life, this portion that inspired the autobiographical Born on the 4th of july. Tom Cruise has been praise how great of an actor he is. But when you see this terrific performance you are wondering why he didn’t become a character actor. Kovic went to fight from his country and knew that he could come back killed or wounded.  Ron Kovic, star athlete and high school hero, was the kind of kid waiting to hear that message The one from Kennedy “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.” The problem with the Vietnam war it should have  happened.  And if you are Kovic a young man at the time there is no way of knowing that. There is a great scene where Kovic is in the military hospital it show the military care system that is hopeless. Kovic screams out for a suction pump that will drain a wound that might cost him his leg. He will never have feeling of his leg but it is his and a distracted doctor  explains about equipment shortages and  budget cutbacks  in care for the wounded vets. Back in the civilian life Kovic is the hero at the 4th of july parade. When a bystander flip him the finger he gets more rage inside of him. He finds that he will never be understood and more rage comes along. His parent are afraid of his rage and wants him out of the house. You see him with a bunch of disable of Vietnam vets in a Mexican whore house doing drugs and having sex with prostitutes ti kill the pain. A movie like that has never been done before a soldier who comes back from the war and changes its mind about it. Great performance By Tom Cruise. He should got the oscar for that one.

One of the few remaining drone repairmen assigned to Earth, its surface devastated after decades of war with the alien Scavs, discovers a crashed spacecraft with contents that bring into question everything he believed about the war, and may even put the fate of mankind in his hands.
Nice little story great CJI and visual was fantastic. Everything is good for Jack Harper (Tom Cruise) who is a drone repair man. He goes out to repair drone that protects the natural resources from the alien scavs. His side kick Victoria (Andrea Riseborough) stays home and watches his back on a monitor, while the mission check in once in a while to see if the couple is doing their jobs well. Whole on a routine check Jack see a ship going down and goes after it although Vitoria told him not to go. He discover one survivor a woman who happens to be the woman that he has been dreaming about. He gets her home aven if he knows it is against Protocol. JACK REACHER (2012)

A film by Christopher McQuarrie.
cast: Tom Cruise, Rosamund Pike, Richard Jenkins.
In an innocent heartland city, five are shot dead by an expert sniper. The police quickly identify and arrest the culprit, and build a slam-dunk case. But instead of confessing, the accused man writes the words, “Get Jack Reacher.” Reacher himself sees the news report and turns up in the city. The defense is immensely relieved, but Reacher has come to bury the guy. Shocked at the accused’s request, Reacher sets out to confirm for himself the absolute certainty of the man’s guilt, but comes up with more than he bargained for.
Jack Reacher and the casting of Tom Cruise. In the series of novels by Lee Child this movie is based on, Jack Reacher is an ex-MP detective. after the army Jack is a drifter gets his pension every month has no job, no home, no family. except in the book Jack is 6’5″and big and tom cruise in only 5’9″. LIKE i said minor detail. They check with the author of the book Lee Child If tom could play the part and the rest is history. It is a thriller action movie that we din’t see for a while. A bit predictable unfortunately but it is still good. You have a nice little surprise in this movie Robert Duvall who plays a small part in this. Also it is funny when the 2 men tries to beat the shit out of Jack but it turn out first that the bathroom is too small for 2 big men. It is like the 3 stooges trying to beat up Jack. There is a little cameo be the writer Lee Child. Cool movie. Can’t wait for another one. It has to be has good or better no pressure there. I forgot to mentioned there is another little surprise Werner Herzog plays the bad guy in this one.

MAGNOLIA (1999)

A film by Paul Thomas Anderson.

Cast: Tom Cruise, Jason Robards, Julianne Moore.

24 hours in L.A.; it’s raining cats and dogs. Two parallel and intercut stories dramatize men about to die: both are estranged from a grown child, both want to make contact, and neither child wants anything to do with dad. Earl Partridge’s son is a charismatic misogynist; Jimmy Gator’s daughter is a cokehead and waif. A mild and caring nurse intercedes for Earl, reaching the son; a prayerful and upright beat cop meets the daughter, is attracted to her, and leads her toward a new calm. Meanwhile, guilt consumes Earl’s young wife, while two whiz kids, one grown and a loser and the other young are pressured and face their situations. The weather is getting worse. Could it be the end of the world. Paul Thomas Anderson has done a commendable job in putting on the screen a relatively unique vision Let just day they are similarities between Robert Altman.

This movie is awesome film it has , a joyous leap into melodrama and coincidence, with ragged emotions, crimes and punishments, deathbed scenes, romantic dreams, generational turmoil You name it it has it.
